Have your heard about My HealtheVet and/or the Veterans Health Library? Do you know how to use them? If you do, you can make a difference in the lives of veterans.
On Wednesday, February 9, from 1pm to 2pm, two experts, Angela Hensel and Susan Haidary, will explain how you can use these two tools, and how you can tell veterans about these resources and show them how to use them. Staff, volunteers, and VA Work-Study who might have an interaction with a veteran are welcome.
The Veterans Health Library (VHL) offers Veterans, family members, and caregivers 24/7 access to comprehensive, consistent, Veteran-focused health information, no matter where the Veteran receives care. Available online at https://www.veteranshealthlibrary.va.gov/ or via My HealtheVet at https://www.myhealth.va.gov, the VHL:
- Provides information that’s been approved by VA experts
- Is designed to be easy for Veterans to use and understand
- Features Veteran-specific health topics, like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Agent Orange and combat-related traumatic brain injury
- Has been improved with testing and feedback from Veterans, family members, and health care providers
- Is available anywhere there is Internet access
My HealtheVet, VA’s Personal Health Record since 2003, offers veterans tips and tools to help partner with their VA health care teams, so together they can work to manage their health and wellness. The site has useful resources when veterans need them – available 24/7. The interactive tools are designed to enrich veterans experience with My HealtheVet and help them make informed decisions. My HealtheVet has been VA’s Personal Health Record since November 11, 2003, and since that time, continues to serve millions of Veterans worldwide. Please note that anyone can register for a My HealtheVet account by visiting www.myhealth.va.gov.
