Campaign for Grade-Level Reading (CGLR) Week: Bright Spots and Silver Linings

Monday, July 18 @ 12:00 am - 1:30 pm

Register for this 90-minute event.

The Campaign for Grade-Level Reading (CGLR) is hosting its annual virtual conference, “GLR Week: Bright Spots and Silver Linings” July 18-22, 2022. This event will feature daily plenary sessions for its networks of local funders, coalition-leading organizations and program partners. As with GLR Week 2021, these sessions will lift up and explore the transformative potential of emerging “bright spots and silver linings” that illuminate the path toward what could be the hoped-for “new normal.” On Monday, July 18 at 3:00 pm ET, GLR Week will be launched with a Virtual Gratitude Reception honoring public library partners across the country. This session will acknowledge public library leadership for important initiatives such as Summer Learning, Lunch at the Library, Book-Rich Environments, Digital Equity, Literacy in Laundromats and Remake Learning. A panel of library leaders will join in a conversation, moderated by Susan Hildreth, Former Director of the Institute of Museum and Library Services, to discuss the attributes of public libraries’ contributions toward advancing early school success from both historical and contemporary perspectives in an ever-changing information and resource-challenged environment.

Presenters: Melanie Huggins, Richland (SC) Library; Erin Silva, Association of Rural & Small Libraries; Pilar Martinez, Edmonton Public Library, Canada; Felton Thomas, Cleveland (OH) Public Library.

Moderator: Susan Hildreth, Librarian, Administrator, and Educator.
