Inclusion and Belonging: More Than Words
January 28, 2021 @ 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
Session 1: Building the Foundation
Is your library committed to creating more equitable and inclusive systems for your patrons, staff and community? Would you like to learn and build from a successful library racial equity learning initiative? Multnomah County Library (OR) has created a toolkit towards racial equity. The toolkit contains workbooks designed to support and assist library staff in gaining cultural awareness and sensitivity.
California Libraries Learn (CALL) is offering a learning event where teams of library staff can work through these materials together. There is no cost to participate in this CALL course, but space is limited and enrollment is by team application only. Teams will consist of two to four individuals who work in the same public library. Participants will be given access to the workbooks and will attend online training led by Sonja Ervin, Multnomah County Library’s Equity and Inclusion Manager, to become familiar with the content and activities. As a key part of the course, participants will make personal plans to apply learning and to implement training in their libraries.
