Library Dementia Services
November 10 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
More than 50 million people globally are living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and tens of millions further serve as their caregivers. As an aspect of our public service, it is important that librarians learn to serve and assist those with dementia in our communities.
Join Timothy J. Dickey for a free webinar that will give an overview of the spectrum disease known as Alzheimer’s dementia, and a basic understanding of how librarians can meet the information needs of persons with dementia and their caregivers.
We will explore best practices, guidelines, and concrete ideas for librarians: dementia-friendly customer service, targeted reference resources, appropriate collection development, and a wide variety of programming ideas.
Lifelong learning, mental stimulation, and social connections are central to libraries’ core mission, and attendees will see how these non-pharmacological interventions, and all of our library dementia services, can make an impact both for those experiencing cognitive decline and their caregivers.
The recording will be posted in the CALL Academy.
