PubMed Essentials

Wednesday, February 23 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Register for a seat in this one-hour webinar.

Millions of scientific journal articles are published every year and in general, health-related studies have more reach on the Internet and social media than other types of studies (2016. Pew Research Center). Some patrons are looking for a definition, others are looking to compare treatment options and more. What tools can librarians use to help their patrons find reliable answers to their more complex health questions?

The freely available PubMed database from the U.S. National Library of Medicine, one of the National Institutes of Health, contains more than 32 million citations and abstracts from over 5,000 medical journals. PubMed is a database of citations, but links to the full text are often present when made available from sources, such as the publisher’s website or PubMed Central (PMC).

Attend this webinar to learn a variety of methods to search PubMed. It can be as easy as placing a few keywords into the search box. The session will provide the opportunity to do hands-on exercises to demonstrate effective search strategies.

If you’re interested but not able to attend the live webinar, go ahead and register. We’ll send a recording to all registrants after the fact.
