Who can sign up for CALL events? CALL events and CALL Academy are available for use to all California library staff.
How is CALL funded? California Libraries Learn (CALL) is a collaborative project of the California Library Association and the California State Library, and is supported in whole or in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.
If you appreciate this, let the State Librarian know.
How much do CALL learning events cost? All CALL events are free for California library staff.
Please be aware that, although you do not have to pay for this learning event, it is not free of charge to CALL. If you are unable to attend an event that requires your active or synchronous participation, we kindly ask that you cancel your registration right away to save your seat for someone else, and so that resources can be used for other opportunities. CALL’s mission is to support continuing education for all California library staff, but its grant funds are limited. Thanks for your understanding.
Who develops and delivers the training for CALL? CALL works with a number of different continuing education providers such as Infopeople, Library Juice Academy, PCI Webinars, Niche Academy, and professional associations, organizations and co-operatives like ALA, PLP and ARSL to find the most relevant and useful content currently available. Registration for select conferences, symposiums and forums is also funded under CALL.
How do I get to self-paced learning in CALL Academy? When signing up for a CALL Academy account it’s easiest to use your work email to sign up for a CALL Academy account since we will usually automatically approve accounts from work emails and it may take longer to request and receive permission from a different email domain. However, you do not need to be logged in to your work email or at work to use CALL Academy. In addition, we do not share your course enrollment information with a supervisor without your permission.
How can I plan my learning in advance to fit with my schedule? We add all of our upcoming learning events to the CALL Calendar so you can plan ahead. We also send out a weekly newsletter along with periodic postings on CLATalk.
